14-year-old dies of gunshot wounds in District Heights, police say

A 14-year-old girl injured in a triple shooting in District Heights, Maryland, last month has died, Prince George’s County police said Monday.

Khamya Ferrell of Suitland was pronounced clinically dead Wednesday, police said. She was the unintended target of a shooting that police are still working to solve, the department said.

The shooting occurred on May 31 at around 1:50 p.m. in the 6600 block of Atwood Street, police said. District Heights Police and Prince George’s County officers found a woman and Ferrell — who police say are not related — with gunshot wounds inside an apartment and a third victim, a man, injured outside.

The woman and the man suffered injuries that are not life-threatening, police said. No arrests have been made in the case.
