Man with suspended driving license appears for court hearing while driving

A video that went viral in Washtenaw County court shows a judge stunned as a man charged with driving without a license appeared while driving to his virtual court hearing.

It happened on May 15 before Judge Cedric Simpson. According to court records, Corey Harris, 44, was charged with driving without a license in October 2023.

He had a virtual court appearance on May 15 and appeared by car.

In the video, Harris said he was on his way to his doctor’s office and asked for a second appointment.

After a long pause, Judge Simpson seemed stunned and said, “No, I’m looking at his record. He doesn’t have a driver’s license. His license has been revoked and he’s just driving.”

Simpson then said, “I don’t even know why he would do that,” while revoking his bail and urging Harris to turn himself in.

The video showed Harris saying “Oh my God” while tilting his head back.
