East Bridgewater police arrest two people for drug and weapons possession

EAST BRIDGEWATER – Police Chief Michael Jenkins reports that East Bridgewater police arrested two people over the weekend on drug and weapons charges.

KYLE CONWARD, 20 YEARS OLD, FROM MANSFIELDwas arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute (marijuana more than 60 grams)
  • Carrying a firearm without a permit
  • License plate violation to conceal the identity of the vehicle
  • Possession of ammunition without FID
  • Driving a motor vehicle without a driving licence
  • Driving an uninsured motor vehicle
  • Operation of an unregistered motor vehicle
  • Possession of a firearm without a serial number
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without LTC/FID

KELVIN CARDOSO, 22, OF EAST BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:

  • Carrying a firearm without a permit
  • Possession of a firearm without a serial number
  • Possession of ammunition without FID
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without LTC/FID

CARDOSO is also wanted on the basis of an existing arrest warrant from another court.

On Saturday, June 8, at 3:31 p.m., East Bridgewater Police officers conducting a routine traffic stop in the area of ​​604 Bedford St. observed a black Volkswagen sedan traveling north without an inspection sticker. While officers were following the vehicle, it abruptly turned into Carriage Crossing Plaza and headed toward East Bridgewater Cinemas. Officers activated their blue lights to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle pulled into a parking lot and the passenger got out. Officers ordered the passenger to stay in the vehicle and the passenger complied. Officers identified the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Furtherdid not have a driver’s license, that the vehicle was not insured and that the license plates belonged to another vehicle. The officers noticed the passenger, who was later identified as CARDOSO, had active arrest warrants for a crime from another court. The officers then also placed CARDOSO arrested.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded firearm in the glove compartment. Further still CARDOSO have a license to carry a firearm or a firearms identification card. Officers also seized a clear bag containing 11 foil packets containing marijuana.

Further And CARDOSO were taken to the East Bridgewater Police Department for arrest. Both individuals were arraigned in Brockton District Court on Monday morning.
