Two people hospitalized after car crash in Fenton town

Two people were hospitalized following a serious accident on State Route 369 in the town of Fenton on Saturday.

According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, on June 8 at approximately 5:52 p.m., the driver of a silver Honda Civic while traveling northbound on State Route 369 near Rogers Road missed a curve, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a purple SUV.

No fatalities were reported, but both drivers were hospitalized and treated for serious injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic received several traffic violations during the crash investigation.

“Our patrols have always had a constant presence on Route 369, but in response to these recent accidents, our team will increase proactive patrols and utilize technology to collect additional data on traffic activity and driving behavior,” said Sheriff Fred Akshar. “We are also examining accident and traffic ticket data from the past few years to support the decisions made by local municipalities and the New York State Department of Transportation. Ultimately, however, it is up to all members of our community to take extra caution when driving on this and all other roads to ensure our families get to their destinations safely.”

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Port Crane Fire Company, Chenango Forks Fire Company, Chenango Bridge Fire Company, Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad, New York State Police and New York State Department of Transportation, all of whom responded to the accident.
