BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting at Del Denby’s Tavern on Hertel Avenue last month, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

William Quinones, 27, is accused of shooting and killing Madjid Elbert, 46, outside Del Denby around 1:15 a.m. May 7, during a fight on the patio outside the bar. Elbert was pronounced dead at ECMC.

Del Denby was shut down by Buffalo police within 24 hours of the shooting, but the bar reopened about three weeks later.

Quinones was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted of the highest charge, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

He will return to court on July 12.
