WORK INCIDENT – Firefighters from St. Mary’s, Charles and PG County on scene of house fire in Mechanicsville – Southern Maryland News NetOn Monday, June 10, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., firefighters from Mechanicsville, Leonardtown, Hollywood, the Seventh District and Charles County were dispatched to the 40000 block of Wolfe Drive in Mechanicsville for a report of a house fire involving multiple people and animals trapped.

Due to the large number of emergency calls and reports of many people trapped, a firefighting operation was requested, which alerted additional firefighters from St. Mary’s, Charles and Prince George’s County to the scene.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw that a fire was breaking out in the two-story house. Both residents were out of the house, but a cat was still inside.

Emergency crews reported that a fire broke out through the roof in an apartment above the garage and firefighters entered the apartment to complete the search. The stairs to the second floor were deemed unsafe and unusable.

The incident is ongoing and updates will be provided as they become available.

Burton Road, Dockser Drive and Wolfe Drive will be closed for several hours – avoid this area.
