Beech Island man charged with sexually assaulting woman | Aiken area public safety and court news

A Beech Island man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

Aiken County Sheriff’s officials arrested 31-year-old Jessie Marqule Curry on Saturday.

A woman said Curry asked her if she lived in the area and if she had a boyfriend while she was buying a pack of cigarettes at a supermarket on Wednesday, a police report said.

The woman did not respond to Curry’s conversation, she added.

She later arrived at her North Augusta residence when Curry parked his car next to hers and threatened her with a “sharp object,” she continued.

The woman said Curry sexually harassed her but stopped when she begged him to allow her to check on another person in her vehicle.

Identifying information about the person in the vehicle was removed from the report.

Curry left after giving the woman an opportunity to respond to the person in the vehicle, the woman continued.

Curry was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, which is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

An Aiken County justice of the peace refused to post bail.

No further court dates have been set.
