Anti-Israel protesters set up new camp at UCLA and clash with police

US News

On Monday, anti-Israel protesters set up a new camp on the UCLA campus, forcing police to intervene to clear the area.

According to Fox 11, protesters set up their tents at Dickson Plaza, where a week-long camp had previously taken place in April and May before police cleared the area and arrested more than 200 people.

The outlet reported that protesters also carried fake, bloody corpses and body parts.

“We will honor all our martyrs,” protesters chanted as they called out the names of Palestinians killed in the Gaza war, the campus newspaper Daily Bruin reported.

During the protest, demonstrators stood on top of the Janss Steps that lead to the square to prevent people from entering the square, Fox 11 reported.

According to Fox 11, university police and campus security officers arrived at the scene and used bicycles as a barrier to prevent additional protesters from entering the area.

According to ABC 7, the protesters were asked several times to disperse.

The Los Angeles Police Department also responded to the campus and eventually issued a tactical alert.

There were several clashes between protesters and police on campus on Monday, ABC 7 reported. At least one security guard was treated for injuries.

According to the Daily Bruin, campus police arrested Undergraduate Students Association Council President Adam Tfayli shortly before 4 p.m.

The LAPD told KNX News that 27 protesters were arrested by campus police during a confrontation behind Dodd Hall.

According to KNX News, the protest broke up around midnight.

Fox News Digital contacted campus police and the LAPD, but both agencies did not immediately respond.

These protests come against the backdrop of protests at various universities in California and across the country. The ongoing war in the Middle East between Hamas terrorists and Israeli forces began with Hamas’s attack on the Jewish state on October 7, triggering military retaliation from Israel.

The demonstrators are calling on their universities to break off all business relations with Israel.
