St. Louis Police open new downtown substation

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Downtown Bike Unit will move its operations to the Globe Building, opening a new location that officials say will increase the unit’s visibility in its efforts to reduce crime in downtown St. Louis.

A new substation for the bike unit is scheduled to open in late September in the Globe Building, 710 N. Tucker Blvd. The bike unit will move from its current location in the Fashion Square building at 1307 Washington Ave.

The Globe Building announced that it has signed a 10-year lease with the Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District for a 4,000-square-foot space to be used by the Downtown Bike Unit. The new location will be on the ground floor of the Globe Building at the corner of Tucker Boulevard and Convention Center Drive.

This location will “provide significant police presence and deterrence on a busy road,” a press release said.
