JCPD: Juvenile arrested after armed carjacking | WJHL

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – A 17-year-old was arrested Monday following an alleged armed carjacking in Johnson City.

The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reports that officers were called to a car theft in the 2900 block of Plymouth Road shortly before 9 p.m.


The victim told police he was sitting in his car when the suspect – identified by police as a 17-year-old – allegedly put a gun to his head and demanded that he get out of the vehicle.

The 17-year-old then drove away in the vehicle, authorities said.

The teen and the vehicle were later found at a residence in Jonesborough, the report said.

The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with auto theft and theft over $2,500. They were taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.
