Bronx family demands justice for man killed in argument with migrants

THE BRONX, NY (PIX11) — The family of a Bronx man is speaking out in hopes of justice following the fatal chance encounter between their beloved Justin Lawless and his girlfriend Claretha Daniels, a migrant from Venezuela.

Police said Josue Silva shot the couple in cold blood after an argument. Another victim was also shot but survived.

Given Silvia’s criminal past, Lawless’ sister said the city needs to get a better handle on the refugee crisis.

“Simple words should never lead to a life being taken so brutally,” she said.

Lawless was the father of three young children and was loved by many.

The suspect, Silva, has been arrested at least six times, including for possession of a firearm, but he has not yet been arrested for this crime.

Provide police with information by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577. Spanish-speaking callers are asked to dial 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
