A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shooting another man in Santa Ana last week, authorities said.

On June 3 at around 6:45 p.m., 19-year-old Angel Junior Vuelvas was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds when officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of South Poplar Street, Santa Ana police said.

Vuelvas, a resident of Santa Ana, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, Gabriel Gutierrez, also of Santa Ana, fled before police arrived and was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder, police said Tuesday.

Authorities did not disclose a motive for the shooting on Tuesday, but previously said the shooting may have been related to gang violence.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at 714-245-8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
