Illinois State Police respond to an accident involving personal injury on Friday evening

The Illinois State Police 9th Troop responded to a personal injury crash on County Highway 16 at the corner of County Road 1600 East in Wayne County at 11:22 p.m. Friday night. Nicholas Kohn, 21, of Flora was injured when he lost control of a 2016 Dodge Challenger traveling northbound on CH-16 toward 1600 East in Wayne County. The vehicle left the road, struck a ditch embankment and crossed County Road 1600 East into a field where it overturned. Kohn was ejected from the vehicle before it came to rest in the field. Kohn was airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. Kohn was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, improper lane usage and failure to wear a seatbelt.
