The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirms a crash in Spartanburg County left one dead and one injured Sunday afternoon. According to police, two vehicles got into a collision around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicles involved were a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2023 GMC SUV. The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on US Highway 221. The driver of the GMC was traveling east on Davis Trading Post Road and turned left onto US Highway 221. The motorcyclist then crashed into the GMC, troopers say. Both drivers of the vehicles were the only occupants and were taken to Spartanburg Regional for treatment, Highway Patrol says. According to the coroner, 55-year-old Charlton Connell died from his injuries later Sunday afternoon.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirms a crash in Spartanburg County left one dead and one injured Sunday afternoon.

The vehicles involved were a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2023 GMC SUV. The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on US Highway 221. The driver of the GMC was traveling east on Davis Trading Post Road and turned left onto US Highway 221. The motorcyclist then struck the GMC, troopers say.

Both drivers of the vehicles were the only occupants and were taken to Spartanburg Regional for treatment, Highway Patrol says.

According to the coroner, 55-year-old Charlton Connell died from his injuries later Sunday afternoon.
