Senator John Fetterman and his wife Gisele involved in a two-vehicle accident in Maryland

HANCOCK, Maryland (KDKA) – U.S. Senator John Fetterman and his wife Gisele were involved in a two-vehicle accident in Maryland on Sunday.

Officers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched to the area of ​​westbound Interstate 70 at Interstate 68 shortly before 8:00 a.m. Sunday for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Fetterman, 54, was driving a Chevrolet Traverse west on Interstate 70 when the Traverse struck the rear of a Chevrolet Impala.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Maryland State Police, the Traverse and the Impala were both traveling west on I-70 when the accident occurred.

According to Maryland State Police, a passenger in the Traverse and the driver of the Impala were taken by ambulance to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for treatment of their injuries.

“On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver. Out of an abundance of caution, they were transported to a local hospital. John was treated for a shoulder contusion and they were released that afternoon. They are doing well and are happy to be back in Braddock,” a spokesperson for Senator Fetterman’s office told KDKA-TV on Monday.

No tickets were issued. The accident investigation is ongoing.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Senator Fetterman thanked everyone for their well wishes and said he and Gisele are doing “great.”

“Not the best way to spend our 16th wedding anniversary, but we are doing well and happy to be back home in Braddock with family,” he posted.
