Philadelphia police search for suspect in multiple armed robberies – NBC10 Philadelphia

Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who is allegedly wanted in connection with several armed robberies at stores in Northern Liberties and Kensington.

The first incident occurred on May 24 at 8 p.m. Police said they responded to a robbery in the 400 block of Girard Avenue.

A 39-year-old woman told police the suspect entered a local restaurant, jumped over the counter, pulled out a gun and demanded money, police said.

The suspect then cocked the gun and pointed it at the victim before fleeing on foot before police arrived, police said.

The second incident occurred on May 29 at 4:55 p.m. in the 2700 block of E. Clearfield Street in Kensington.

According to police, the suspect entered a store, walked up to the counter and showed the cashier an online order. When the clerk turned around to check the order, she told police she heard a gun being cocked and felt it being pointed at her back.

The suspect then forced all three store employees to the back of the store, where he ordered them to lie on the floor. He also forced one of the employees to take money from the cash register and put it in a bag, police reported.

During the robbery, two other customers entered the store. The suspect forced them and the other employees to the back of the store at gunpoint and began frisking everyone and taking their phones.

One of the customers began fighting with the suspect and managed to run out of the store while screaming and calling 911. The suspect then fled the store and ran north on Edgemont Street, police said.

Law enforcement officers were able to track the suspect down to the corner of Westmoreland and Webb Streets because he was carrying an employee’s cell phone, which he then discarded.

The suspect stole about $1,000 in cash, police said.

Police have released images and surveillance video of the suspect they believe is involved in the incident.

They ask anyone with information or who has seen the suspect to call 911 immediately.
