A longtime Democratic sheriff from a southern South Dakota county announces his resignation after his law enforcement license was revoked following an investigation by a state commission.

However, former Sheriff Mike Blom does not rule out regaining his license and returning to the office he has held since 2014 when his term from two years ago expires, ending in 2026.

The former sheriff of Mellette County said The Dakota Scout He announced Monday that while he officially announced his retirement earlier this month, constituents’ disappointment with the Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission has him considering a comeback.
