SHOCKING! Rape accused cuts off his genitals in police custody and attempts suicide

A 35-year-old man was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman after attempting suicide by cutting off his private parts with a razor blade in Jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer: A shocking incident has come to light in Rajasthan: A 35-year-old man, who was taken into custody on Sunday evening, attempted suicide by cutting off his private parts with a razor blade. The incident took place in Jaisalmer district. The man accused of sexually assaulting a woman has been identified as Abdul Rashid, who is dependent on a tricycle. He was taken to a nearby hospital in Pokhran, where doctors referred him to Jodhpur for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Gopal Singh Bhati and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhawani Singh, Rashid was arrested at around 10 pm from a bus stop on Pokhran Roadways.

“He (Rashid) was taken into custody from Pokhran Roadways bus stop around 10 pm on Sunday. He was locked in the police station cell. On Monday morning, he was escorted to the toilet by a police officer, where he cut his private parts with a razor blade that he had in his pocket,” Vishnoi said.

Rashid, who hails from the small village of Paupadiya just eight kilometres from Pokhran, is notorious for his unruly behaviour, according to local police.

The story goes on to say that Rashid has isolated himself from his relatives and is suffering from the hardships of a failed marriage that ended with his wife’s departure.
