New York State Police have arrested two suspects who may have been involved in a shooting in Jay.

State police said they received a call around 5:20 p.m. Monday that two suspicious men with long guns were walking along Sawmill Road. About an hour later, police responded to a report that someone had fired shots at a car.

According to police, the suspects ran into the woods. State police set up a no-go zone in the area.

In a social media post early Tuesday morning, state police said the suspects had been arrested and there was no further threat to the public or law enforcement.
