RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — The Piedmont Triad Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a retired deputy.

According to a statement on the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office FacebookDeputy John Davie Garner and his wife Alisha died in a traffic accident on Wednesday while returning home from vacation.

In this time of loss, we are left with an emptiness that cannot be explained. We must remain faithful to our faith that we will meet again one day. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant, we will take it from here. Please remember and pray for her daughters, their families, friends and colleagues. Funeral arrangements are currently ongoing.

Dep. Garner touched many lives during his employment with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and will be greatly missed. Dep. Garner retired from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in 2021 after 22 years of loyal service as a Lieutenant. After his retirement, he returned to the Sheriff’s Office where he currently serves part-time as a Bailiff.
