Family of woman killed two years ago in South Jackson seeks justice

JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – The family of a woman killed two years ago in South Jackson released balloons in her honor on Tuesday, June 11.

Brianna Winters was shot while sitting in her vehicle at the Valero gas station on Cooper Road.

Although Jackson police have named a suspect in the case, there has been no trial or conviction. The family said they are still fighting for justice for Winters.

“We wanted to use this opportunity to highlight their legacy and their memory. This family has fought hard for justice over the last two years. Two years ago to the day, the mayor of the city of Jackson was here. Today, he was not here. The police chief of the city of Jackson was here two years ago, but he was not here today. So we want to make sure that we use all of our resources to make sure that the victims of crime get the justice that they deserve,” said family attorney Warren Martin Jr.

Corinthian Roberson was arrested in June 2022 in connection with the murder.
