8-year-old raped and killed, confessed three students

A shocking incident has come to light in Nandyal district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. An eight-year-old girl was raped by three minor school children in Muchumari village of Pagidyala Mandal. Moreover, the girl was brutally murdered after the gang rape. The incident took place on Sunday but came to light only on Wednesday when the police arrested the accused. The girl was a third-grader while two accused (12 years old) were sixth-graders and a 13-year-old student was the seventh-grader. The girl and the accused studied in the same school.

According to Nandikotkur police, the minor girl’s father filed a missing person’s report on Sunday. In the report, she told the police that her daughter was playing in the nearby Muchumari Park and suddenly disappeared. They searched everywhere for her but could not find her. Following the report, the police searched the entire park and questioned local residents but could not find the girl.

The police called the dog squad to the crime scene. The clues provided by the sniffer dogs helped the police find the three underage boys. The dogs not only led the police to the crime scene, but also stopped at the defendants’ houses.

After a preliminary investigation, the minor boys were arrested. During interrogation, the boys confessed to raping and killing the girl. The accused told the police that after killing her, they threw the girl’s body into an irrigation canal to cover up the crime. The three boys told the police that they saw the girl playing near the park. The boys persuaded her to go with them. Playing hide and seek, they took the girl to a secluded place near the Muchumar Irrigation Project. There, they raped the girl one by one.

Police have not yet found the girl’s body. The water level in the canal is very high and it is unclear whether the body was washed away by monsoon rains. Search operations have been intensified along the canal banks to recover the body.
