Andhra Pradesh | Missing 8-year-old girl raped by senior students, they say they killed her: Video

Hyderabad: An eight-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped and then murdered by three 12- and 13-year-old students in Nandyala district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

The three arrested minor accused told police that they had dumped the girl’s body in an irrigation canal. The incident was reported in Muchumarri, over 300 km from Andhra’s capital Amaravati. The girl’s body has not been found yet.

The Grade 3 student had been missing since Sunday and her father had filed a missing person report at the local police station. He had told police that the girl had been playing at Muchumarri Park but later did not return home. Police launched a search and questioned local residents but were unable to locate her.

The dog led police to the three underage boys. Two of them are 12-year-olds in grade 6, and one is 13-year-olds in grade 7. All three are students at the same school as the girl. During questioning, the boys admitted to raping and murdering the girl, police said.

The accused told police that they saw the girl playing in the park and joined in. They then took her to a remote area near the Muchumarri Dam and took turns raping her. Fearing they would get in trouble if the girl told her parents about the assault, they murdered her and dumped her body in the nearby canal, the boys told police.

Sub-Inspector Jayshekhar of Muchumarri police station said the case would continue to be treated as a missing person case as the girl’s body had not been found yet.
