A father and his grandmother are among three people charged after an 11-year-old girl was shot and killed in her Miami apartment.

The shooting occurred around noon Tuesday in an apartment in a building in the area of ​​Northwest 2nd Avenue and Northwest 17th Street in Overtown.

Officials said the girl, 11-year-old Taliyan Clarke, was hospitalized and later died from her injuries.

On Wednesday, Miami police announced they had arrested three people for manslaughter of a child in connection with the shooting.

The three arrested were father Titato Hatzate Clarke, 40, grandmother Charlene Ann Webster, 59, and Titato Clarke’s partner, 43-year-old Nancy Severe.

According to arrest reports, Titato Clarke and Webster said Taliyan Clarke was in her room with her nine-year-old brother when they heard a loud “pop” coming from the room.

They went in and found the girl with a gunshot wound to the chest.

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators entered the apartment and found a Glock pistol wrapped in a pink scarf and a brown blanket in the child’s room, as well as a cartridge case and large pools of blood, reports said.

When officers spoke to Titato Clarke at the hospital, he gave conflicting accounts of how his daughter was shot, reports said.

According to reports, the three adults lived in the apartment with Taliyan Clarke and three children shared by Titato Clarke and Severe.

“All three adults lived in the apartment at the time of the shooting and shared responsibility for supervising the victim,” the reports say.

A criminal record check revealed that Titato Clarke had been convicted of 12 crimes, the reports said.

The files show that he has previously been charged with sexual abuse of minors, aggravated assault on a pregnant woman, aggravated assault and deprivation of liberty.

Titato Clarke, Webster and Severe were taken to jail and are scheduled to appear in bail court on Wednesday.
