8-year-old girl allegedly raped and murdered by 3 minor boys in Nandyala; sniffer dog leads police to accused’s house

In a horrific incident, an eight-year-old third-class girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her three senior students, all below the age of 14, in Muchumarri village in Pagidyala mandal of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

The incident was uncovered on Wednesday after police arrested the accused. The victim, an 8-year-old schoolgirl, had reportedly gone to a local park to play with her friends from her residence in Old Muchumurri on Sunday.

After she did not return home that evening, her worried parents reported her to the police.

After the case was opened, the police immediately launched a manhunt for the girl. They conducted raids in several locations and deployed a dog squad to assist in the search. The dogs not only led them to the crime scene, but also stopped at the accused’s homes and helped identify possible suspects.

After initial questioning, the police took the accused boys into custody. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the heinous crime and gave the police a detailed account of how they killed the 8-year-old and dumped her body in a canal to cover up the crime.

According to a TOI report, the boys told police that they lured the girl to play with them. They then covered her mouth and took turns to rape her at a remote location near Muchumarri Irrigation Project. Fearing that she would tell the incident to her parents, the minors killed the girl and dumped her body in an irrigation canal.

Search operation underway:

The police have not been able to recover the victim’s body yet as the water level in the canal is very high and there is a possibility that it may have been washed away by the monsoon rains. According to reports, search operations are currently underway to recover the body.
