Golden Alert issued for missing woman from Berea, KY who may be hitchhiking to GA

BEREA, Kentucky (FOX 56) – A Golden Alert has been issued after a Berea woman was reported missing Thursday.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), 67-year-old Sherry Fugate was last seen around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday and her daughter has not seen or heard from her since.


MISSING IN KENTUCKY

Fugate reportedly visited Saint Joseph Hospital in Berea early Thursday morning. Authorities described Fugate as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 pounds, with blue eyes and “brownish-gray hair.” Fugate was last seen wearing a black skirt, a red T-shirt with “a Georgia G on the front,” and white tennis shoes with pink soles.

Police posted on Facebook that Fugate suffers from a mental illness that requires medication that she does not currently have access to. She is believed to have hitchhiked to Rome, Georgia, and is reported missing there, according to MCSO.

The MCSO said anyone with information or knowledge regarding the whereabouts of Ms. Sherry Fugate is asked to call the Madison County EOC at (859) 624-4776 or Deputy Kermeen at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 623-1511.
