Woman crushed by tree trunks and sedated in accident in Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG: A woman who was the victim of an accident in which she was crushed by logs falling from a truck at the traffic lights of Bendahara junction on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai here yesterday was sedated after receiving initial treatment at Gua Musang Hospital.

The victim’s brother, Mohamad Azwa Kamarulzaman, 28, said his sister, Siti Norelyana, 21, has since been transferred to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu and is under close observation by medical staff.

According to him, Siti Norelyana will have to undergo surgeries on her spine, hip, ribs, liver, spleen, lungs and gallbladder, all of which have sustained serious injuries.

“In addition, my sister’s hip bone is broken and her intestines are in critical condition due to being crushed by the tree trunks.

“My sister was sedated at around 6pm yesterday and now the doctors are treating her intestines, which could cause complications,” he told Bernama today.

Mohamad Azwa said that despite the sedatives, his sister was showing a positive response in her legs and hands.

“She is fighting for her life, her spirit is very strong and the doctors have told us that she is battling her pain. I am grateful to the public for their prayers and hope that everyone continues to pray for her so that she can recover quickly,” he said.

Mohamad Azwa said that Siti Norelyana was scheduled to get married in December this year.

Yesterday, a woman narrowly escaped death when her motorcycle was crushed by several tree trunks that had fallen from a truck while she was stopped at a traffic light.

Gua Musang police chief Supt. Sik Choon Foo said the cause of the accident was when the turntable of a truck loaded with logs broke while turning at a traffic light junction.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Azwa denied that his sister was pregnant as claimed as her pants contained blood after the incident, adding that she was suffering from internal bleeding due to organ injuries.

“Apart from such claims, since yesterday I have also been receiving false reports on social media that my sister died after treatment.

“We are receiving all kinds of messages, including questions about my sister’s time of death, burial location, pregnancy stage and baby’s status. I have stressed that all these reports are not true because my sister is not even married,” he said on his TikToK account.

Mohamad Azwa also called on those responsible for such false reports to delete the article or message uploaded on social media.

He said the family was already saddened by the tragic accident and could not afford such fake news that could further burden the emotions of the family members.

Mohamad Azwa said his sister’s blood levels were low and she needed blood because some of her organs were damaged in the accident.

“The doctor said my sister’s condition is 50:50 and in a critical stage,” he said.
