Based on preliminary information gathered by officers, Deputy Chief Rodriguez said they believe this was a targeted case, where the shooter fired from outside the window into the apartment, hitting an unidentified 14-year-old boy.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The only description police have of the shooter is that he is a 6-foot-11 African-American man in his 20s, wearing a dark hoodie and light sweatpants. Investigators said he was seen leaving the scene toward the north side of the apartments before officers arrived.
