Actor Steve Buscemi was reportedly attacked by a random man in Manhattan, New York last week.

According to a report by the New York PostBuscemi was walking through the Kips Bay neighborhood on Manhattan’s east side with an unnamed woman on Wednesday (May 8) when he was approached by a random man who came up to him and punched him in the face.

The bearded man was wearing a baseball cap, blue T-shirt and black sweatpants and fled the scene after Buscemi fell to the ground. The New York Post reports that local authorities have not yet arrested the attacker and are still searching for Buscemi’s attacker.

Buscemi’s publicist told the New York Post that the actor is “fine” but suffered a swollen left eye and face and was taken to hospital for treatment shortly after the incident: “He is doing well and appreciates everyone’s good wishes, although he is incredibly sad for everyone that this has been happening for some time now, even walking the streets of New York.”

A witness – a worker in the area who asked only to be identified as Nat – said in a statement to the New York post: “I saw he was with a woman and then I saw him stumble through the corner of the window and fall backwards. He immediately got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him. It worries me when we close because we close at 11 o’clock and it can get scary at that time,” said the woman, who only wanted to be identified as Nat.

Buscemi is the latest actor to fall victim to seemingly random acts of violence. In March Buscemi’s Boardwalk Empire Co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was also attacked in Central Park in Manhattan when he was hit in the neck with a rock. Stuhlbarg pursued his attacker, who was taken into custody.

Steve Buscemi has appeared in successful films and television series such as: Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Armageddon, cellulose fiction, Grown UPS, The king From Staten Island and other. He will next star in Netflix’s second season Wednesday.
