Power outages: About 300 people remain without power in western New York as severe storms hit the region

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — More than 25,000 NYSEG customers in Western New York were without power as severe storms hit the region Wednesday.

The vast majority of the attacks are believed to have occurred in eastern Erie County, including Orchard Park and East Aurora, with more than 20,000 customers without power.


Power was restored to many customers throughout the afternoon. As of 9 p.m., approximately 300 people were still without power.

Multiple tornado warnings were issued for parts of western New York state Wednesday afternoon, including confirmed reports of a tornado in the Silver Creek, North Boston and Alden areas.
