Ryan Brown, who raped a ten-year-old girl and sexually abused a young boy at a disused railway station in Ayrshire, has been jailed

A man who raped a young girl and sexually abused a boy has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ryan Brown, 35, attacked the ten-year-old girl who was in his care at a property in Drongan, East Ayrshire, between November 2019 and March 2020.

Brown had previously abused the boy in a disused railway station in Drongan between April 2011 and 2013, when he was between four and six years old.

The indictment states that Brown forced his victim to perform sexual acts.

Brown, from Drongan, was found guilty by a jury and sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lord Colbeck said: “They deny the offences and accept no responsibility.

“In these cases, I have to assess the question of guilt and in doing so I look at the question of guilt at the relevant point in time.

“Each time you committed an offence, the acts were directed against children in your care and you were in a position of trust.

“I need to assess the damage you have caused.

“According to the girl’s statement, she suffered psychological damage and trauma that continues to this day.

“There is no other way to deal with you than a long prison sentence.

“This is to punish and publicly disapprove of your behavior.”

It was revealed that Brown had three previous convictions in 2007 and 2008. He had never been in prison before and had never appeared before the Supreme Court.

Defense attorney Gail Gianni said at the verdict that her client maintains his innocence.
